A legend in the game, one of the greatest goalscorers ever to have played the game, with a Record breaking 60 goals for Everton in 39 games in the 1927/28 season. With a career goal tally of 473 in 502 games, Bill Shankly once said that Dixie belonged to the company of the extremely great..."like Beethoven, Shakespeare and Rembrandt" . I first saw this man play in 1937 when Everton played Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. The impact has stayed with me throughout my life! Dixie was a GIANT of the game.
